Mungo McCosh
In 2004 Mungo was commissioned by the regimental association of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, a Scottish regiment of the British army, to make a pictorial record of their work in Iraq during operation Telic III. Mungo flew to Basra in March and spent five weeks at diverse locations in the south of the country. During this time he produced over 100 paintings including multiple portraits. These are mostly watercolours, a medium particularly suited to such an arid country, and often tiny in scale as a daily deteriorating security situation demanded very rapid painting.
